"Code Black" Season 2 recently wrapped up and aired its final episode last Feb. 8, 2017. Weeks before the Season 2 finale, fans of the intense emergency room drama have been wondering if there will be a "Code Black" Season 3.

According to Bustle, CBS has yet to issue an official statement whether there will be "Code Black" Season 3 or not. Although the plot game of "Code Black" is strong, apparently, it is not strong enough to garner impressive ratings.

Deadline further reports that "Code Black" Season 2 finale had an unfortunate 18 percent drop from its ratings in the previous week, placing third among the TV series with 10 p.m. slots. To make things bleaker, when compared finale-to-finale, "Code Black" Season 2 demo ratings suffered a 25 percent drop from the Season 1 finale.

According to reports, the ratings only hover at around six million per episode, which, when compared to similar series, is not really impressive. The borderline mediocre and unimpressive ratings of the series is one of the obstacles that can hinder CBS from issuing a renewal for "Code Black" Season 3.

With the bleak finale and turn of events, the fate of "Code Black" Season 3 is considered to be hovering perilously in the borderline of renewal and cancellation. If CBS decides to cancel the series, it would fairly understandable considering that the ratings are not really bringing in big bucks. However, if CBS decides to give "Code Black" one more chance to redeem and vindicate itself, showrunners will have to put in double or even triple effort to make the series work.

Some fans have been suggesting that "Code Black" Season 3 should invite more popular celebrities to grace the show, to stir the intrigue and attention of the viewers. A focus on the character's love story is also a possible angle that showrunners might use to give the series plot a variation aside from the high tension emergency room drama.
