Next Monday will see the finale of "Timeless" Season 1 and there is still no word from the network regarding the renewal. So, fans are naturally speculating about "Timeless" Season 2.

Even NBC cannot delay the decision for long and by mid-May, it will have to make the call about "Timeless" Season 2, howsoever tough that might be, TVLine reported. So, as the time draws near, the broadcast network has gone into the analytical mode, evaluating the prospects of going ahead. Of course, the ratings would be a deciding factor but so will be the creative aspects and the future potential.

Anyone who has watched the time-travel action series would agree that it has a unique flavor but then the ratings have been pretty fluctuating. "Timeless" Season 1 has had its share of ups and downs with the latter being more pronounced than former. The show has hovered in the 1.1-1.2 demo rating zone since October and the numbers have only left it at a critical juncture.

Sadly, ratings are the best indication of a show's chances of staying on air, TV Series Finale claims. The higher they are, the brighter the chances and as far as "Timeless" is concerned, the chart shows a decline in viewership. From 7.597 million in the first episode to 2.923 million in the fourteenth, it has been a steep fall and even the 18.49 demographic has shown a drop.

So, does that mean "Timeless" Season 2 is not happening? Well, if the ratings are taken into consideration, the future does seem bleak but the ratings are not the only factor that NBC would be weighing in. Notably, the track record of NBC has been inconsistent when it comes to reviving shows with low ratings. So, fans would have to wait for an official announcement from the channel to be sure about "Timeless" Season 2.

It is worth mentioning here that "Timeless" revolves around the story of a time machine and three protagonists who are on the mission to nab the culprit who has stolen it. The show premiered on Oct. 3 2016 and would be coming to an end on Feb. 20 2017.
