Andre 3000 is mourning the loss of his mother.

Sharon Benjamin-Hodo reportedly passed away on Tuesday morning in her home in Rex, Ga., according to The Associated Press. She was 58.

As the founder of The Starlight Camp, Benjamin-Hodo and her program supported children who were underprivileged. The program is part of the New Morning Light Missionary Baptist Church, located in Georgia. Her husband Robert Hodo is also the pastor there.

The news of his mother's death came a day after Andre 3000, whose real name is Andre Lauren Benjamin, turned 38. His celebrity friends sent their condolences to the musician on Twitter, the same day upon hearing the news. 

"My condolences go out to Dre, and the entire Benjamin-Hodo family," wrote producer Jermaine Dupri on Twitter.

"Our prayers and love go out to our friend Andre 3000 & family during this time," tweeted singer Janelle Monae. 

"My condolences and love go out to 3000 ...We all loved your mother Miss B..God got her now," tweeted rapper Gipp Goodie.

Andre 3000's mother played a dominant role during his career's earlier years, according to MTV. He began his rap career when he was a teenager along with his friend Antwan "Big Boi" Patton. Together they formed the popular musical act Outkast. 

The group released its debut album in 1994 called Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. The album held a peak position at No. 20 on the Billboard charts. The duo went on to release four more studio albums, all of which were multiplatinum, along with a soundtrack for their 2006 musical film Idlewood. Notably, Outkast released Speakerboxxx/The Love Below in 2003 and at the album went to No. 1 on Billboard.
