She's officially been announced as the newest Bachelorette, meaning she clearly won't find love with Nick Viall on this current season of The Bachelor, and now, Rachel Lindsay is speaking up about the heartbreak she felt when Viall ended things with her on the show.

Though Lindsay is still on the show and is one of the women taking Viall on a hometown date next week, her identity as the newest Bachelorette was revealed on Monday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and she has since spoken out about not only being the first Black person to headline the show in over 30 seasons, but her obviously upcoming break-up with Viall.

While not revealing if she and Viall end things after the hometowns, overnight fantasy dates, or if she made it to the final two, she has admitted that ending things with Viall did devastate her initially.

"I was definitely heartbroken over the situation," she told People Magazine. "I didn't expect it,. I didn't think it would end that way for me."

However, she also admits she has happily moved on from it, and is excited to start her new journey where she will be the one looking for love and handing out the roses.

"Time heals all. Since then, I've been able to get back into work and be with family and friends, I've moved on from it. My biggest thing is, I just want Nick to be happy. If he's found that with someone else, then that makes me happy too," she said. "...Really one of the things that I took from it that is so important is how much I am ready for this and how much I want this. I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to do this again-and to be in the driver's seat! I have my choice! I'm excited for that. It's a different role."

As for what she hopes to find among her potential suitors, she admits she wants to find a man who is ready for the same things she is in life and isn't afraid to settle down with her.

"I'm at a stage in my life where I'm ready for a family. I'm ready to get married," she said. "I want a guy who is not afraid of that. I've across that in my past."
