A new ride attraction is now set to open in Disney's California Adventure that will feature Marvel's hit Sci-Fi film "Guardians of the Galaxy." And as it turned out, the movie's director, James Gunn, was involved in the production of the ride called "Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout!"

Gunn, on his Twitter account last week, has confirmed that he is "very much" involved in "Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout" theme park attraction. Further teasing everyone else that the ride is an "absolute blast."

The "Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout" attraction, according to The San Diego Union Tribune, is set to open in Disney's California Adventure in Anaheim on May 27. It will replace the park's former popular and iconic ride, "Tower of Terror," which was closed down in early January 2017.

Just like the "Tower of Terror" attraction, "Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout" will feature a randomized ride. Fans who would like to go twice in a row will find that each ride is different from the other.

Visitors will also get to have the chance to interact with superheroes on the day "Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout" opens. Fans can head over to the Hollywood Land inside Disney's Adventure Park to see the upcoming promotion "Summer of Heroes" that includes the most lovable human-like tree Groot and others more.

"Summer of Heroes" will commence alongside "Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout." However, the promotion is said to last through Sept. 10, and it will be followed by other superhero events that continue for the whole year. Gunn is not the first director to have ever been consulted for a theme park attraction, though. Slash Film reported that J.K. Rowling, the creator of the popular book and film series "Harry Potter," was also involved in Universal's attraction inspired by the franchise.

James Cameron, too, was tapped for the soon-to-open "Avatar" rides, presumably including the simulator "Flight of Passage" in Disney's the Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. The attraction is expected to open on May 17 and it's going to be pretty exciting for "Guardians Of The Galaxy" fanatics.
