The 2019 Ford Ranger has been hounding everyone this month after it was seen test-driving along the Dearborn headquarters of Ford. The internet was filled with several spy photos of the 2019 Ford Ranger, giving rise to suspicions that it would be released soon.

Spy photos show the 2019 Ford Ranger camouflaged in a coating of black and white chequered design. The circulating photos, however, show a similarity with the Ford Ranger models being sold outside the United States. Since this is just a test mule, then it may have opted for the globally-available Ranger body.

The 2019 Ford Ranger test photos show a lot of similarities with the Ford F-150, according to Auto World News. This includes the taillights as well as the twin-bar grille although it has been downsized.

Beyond appearances, the 2019 Ford Ranger is expected to be powered by a 2.3-liter turbocharged Ecoboost engine for the standard model. The sports and premium models will come with the 3.5-liter Ecoboost V-6 engine. There are, however, various speculations on the engine type, and nothing is final until Ford comes up with an official statement.

Expect the 2019 Ford Ranger to be a smaller version of its big brother, but with the same body frame as the other trucks sold in other countries. This may be a small truck, according to Car and Driver, but it will have a longer crew cab than the F-150.

The 2019 Ford Ranger is faced with heavyweights when it comes to competition, including GMC Canyon, Toyota Tacoma, and the Chevy Colorado. The company is banking on the increasing demand for mid-size trucks and the established reputation of the Ranger to make the truck more competitive unless Ford comes up with a price tag higher than the supposed base price of no more than $25,000.

The 2019 Ford Ranger is set for assembly at the Michigan Assembly Plant of Ford in Wayne. It offers a lot of sales potential for the company considering that almost 350,000 units of the Ranger have been sold in 1999.
