Ridley Scott is continuing to forge ahead with his prequel/sequel Blade Runner venture, now reaching out to Michael Green in an effort to rework Hampton Fancher's screenplay.

Green, who previously wrote Green Lantern as well as select episodes for Smallville and Heroes, is reportedly in talks with Alcon Entertainment and Scott Free, according to The Wrap.

The film will be set several years after the original Blade Runner, Slash Film confirmed. Alcon Entertainment acquired the film rights and television rights to produce prequels and sequels for the franchise. The film has been gestating since the rights acquisition and Scott was brought on to direct in 2011.

Blade Runner, released in 1982, was based off of Philip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Set in 2019, the plot focused on a group of escaped androids, referred to as "replicants," and a police officer, referred to as a "blade runner," who is authorized to kill replicants.

While Slash Film claims that Scott wants to bring back Harrison Ford, Scott told the The Daily Beast that the new film will "definitely be featuring a female protagonist."

Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble are executive producers while Broderick Johnson, Andrew Kosove, Bud Yorkin, Cynthia Sikes Yorkin, and Scott will produce, according to Variety. There is currently no set cast or release date.
