Community creator Dan Harmon confirmed his return to the show's upcoming fifth season after last year's unceremonious firing.

Harmon tweeted, "Yes yes yes! I'm back I'm back I'm back," in reply of a fan's begging for a "straight answer." He continued, "You can thank @joelmchale."

Many of Community's stars tweeted their gratitude for Harmon's return including Gillian Jacobs (Britta), Jim Rash (Dean Pelton) and Ken Jeong (Chang).

Harmon also tweeted, "I would very much like it if ‪@joelmchale ‪@yvettenbrown ‪@GillianJacobs ‪@alisonbrie ‪@dannypudi and ‪@DonaldGlover were somehow involved."

"And maybe ‪@RashisTVUgly and possibly ‪@kenjeong." he added, "I ran out of tweet space. But what have those guys done for us lately."

The creator was fired after production ended for season 3 of the show. He confirmed the news himself on his Tumblr, saying, "I'm not running Community for season 4. They replaced me. Them's the facts."

Included in the Tumblr post was a rant against NBC, explaining that network president Bob Greenblatt "never called me once in the entire duration of his employment at NBC."

He also gave a metaphor for how he felt about his time with NBC: "When I was a kid, sometimes I'd run home to Mommy with a bloody nose and say, 'Mom, my friends beat me up,' and my Mom would say 'well then they're not worth having as friends, are they?'"

For season 4 of Community, writers David Guarascio and Moses Port took over as showrunners. Though the cast remained the same, many critics noted that the quality of the episodes had diminished since Harmon's departure.

With Harmon's return, fans should be happy that the show will likely return to the quality of the first three seasons.

Community was picked up for a fifth season but does not have a scheduled airdate for the upcoming season on NBC.
