Many fans were hoping to see the highly rumored handset, Microsoft Surface Phone 2017, at the recent Mobile World Congress event. Unfortunately, the speculation about its possible release window did not exactly come to light.

The event has already come and gone, and the Redmond-based tech giant still hasn't announced anything about the Microsoft Surface Phone 2017, Trusted Reviews reported. And since the Q1 release window has ended with MWC 2017, fans are now looking forward to the next potential timeframe. If the speculations are to be taken into consideration, Microsoft should announce something about the smartphone in Q2 2017.

Other speculations, however, suggest that the Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 might come out to the market sometime later this year. PC Advisor, on its report in January, noted that October 2017 is the likely time frame for the smartphone.

It should be noted that these time frames are still subject to confirmation. That being said, it is highly advisable to take these with a tiny pinch of salt and consider it as mere rumors until proven otherwise.

Meanwhile, Phone Arena reported in late 2016 that the trial production for the Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 has already begun. Word has it that the company's manufacturing partner, Pegatron, is the one in charge with the trial.

In terms of its specifications, the Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 is being expected to run using a Qualcomm System on Chip (SoC). To be more specific, the highly rumored handset will use a Snapdragon 835 backed with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage capacity.

There are also rumors claiming that the Microsoft Surface Phone 2017 will come equipped with a 21-megapixel camera, USB-C and 5.7-inch AMOLED screen. No word yet, though, on the display quality of the screen. More news about the matter should emerge in the coming months - if the rumors are to be taken accurately.
