Miguel's leg drop performance at the Billboard Music Awards May 19 may have resulted in his victim suffering brain damage, TMZ reported Tuesday.

Khyati Shah retained a lawyer in the days after the Billboard performance where the R&B singer dove off the stage and landed on her head. Vip Bhola, Shah's lawyer, explained some of her symptoms to the entertainment site.

"Some of the difficulties she's experiencing are cognitive in nature and lead to suspicion of a neurological head injury," Bhola said.

The attorney further said that his client should have immediately been taken to the hospital after Miguel's leg drop. He said that Miguel's actions afterward, including offering Shah an ice pack for her neck, were not enough. Bhola added that Shah was waiting on the results of a neurologist to determine if a lawsuit will be filed against the singer.

In May, Bhloa signaled that a possible lawsuit was pending. E! News  reported that Shah was considering seeking damages from the Adorn singer. Bhola said that he had not yet been in contact with representatives for Miguel. However, he felt that a settlement could be reached. At the time of the May 19 event, Miguel was quick to take to Twitter and express his apologies.

"Got caught up in the moment, thank goodness Khyati is okay," he tweeted after the show.

Miguel also tweeted a video of Shah smiling as she clutched an ice pack, and was visibly embarrassed. He gave a more formal response to Billboard Magazine about his leg drop which quickly went viral.

At the time, Shah did not appear to harbor any ill will against the crooner or show sign of permanent injury.

"I Adorn him," she said.
