After OnePlus 3T, OnePlus has set its eyes on being the flagship killer of 2017, with its OnePlus 5. Recently the OnePlus 3T Colette Black edition was released, and it has made people turn their heads. However, as praiseworthy the Colette edition might be, the $510 handset would only have 250 units retail ready.

Apart from that, recent OnePlus 4 rumors have sprouted up, and these state that the OnePlus 4 is actually the OnePlus 5 instead. The OnePlus brand is Chinese, and according to some of the customs widely prevalent in China, the number "4" is considered unlucky. Reports suggest that this time around, the OnePlus 4 would instead be renamed to OnePlus 5.

Having said that, the Chinese company is eyeing to become the best at what they do yet again. The year has barely started and hasn't even seen the Galaxy S8 or the iPhone 8's launch, and yet the OnePlus 5's release date is rumored to be approaching. The OnePlus 5 release date is somewhere around May or June this year. However, other reports suggest that it might be released sooner.

2016's OnePlus 3T was a beast of a phone, with a SnapDragon 821 chipset configured to the highest possible clock speed. It also had a Sony IMX sensor camera which was touted to be the best in class. The phone also came with 6GB of RAM. This time around, OnePlus 5 rumors suggest that the phone might be having a SnapDragon 835 SoC with 8GB of RAM.

OnePlus is one of the most highly sought smartphone brands, and the company has no intention of dropping their "flagship killer" moniker. The OnePlus 5 rumors to be the best smartphone OnePlus delivers, and just like its predecessors, would be priced at a fraction of a flagship's price.
