Actress Ellen Pompeo plays the central character in ABC's Grey's Anatomy but in an interview conducted around the time of the show's season 9 finale, she admitted that she hates "medical shows."

Season 9 of Grey's Anatomy ended with Meredith Grey (Pompeo) giving birth and naming her baby after fellow surgeon Miranda Bailey. Her father figure, Richard Webber, was seen in the last minutes of the episode laying on the floor of the hospital basement after getting electrocuted. Fans are left wondering: is he dead or alive?

Pompeo has not revealed details about season 10 but did talk about medical dramas in general during her May interview with Parade magazine. When asked to name her favorite medical drama, she said the following:

"To be honest, I hated medical shows. They make me super anxious. I don't particularly like medical shows at all. I never have. The show that was really big at the time for my generation - before I started Grey's - was ER. That was on forever, but I've never seen one episode!"

Commenting on her character's two loves - husband Derek Shepard and best friend Cristina Yang - Pompeo said she relates more with the "husband-wife relationship" her character has. The actress not have firsthand experience in regards to a married woman having an obsession with a female friend.

"I have some great girlfriends, and I love them to death, but no one competes with my husband," Pompeo said. "I don't know what guy would actually put up with being second in his marriage. Obviously, I love Sandra Oh... I just don't think that their relationship is very realistic given that the character of Meredith is married and the fact that Cristina is married as well."

Season 10 of Grey's Anatomy premieres in the fall, Thursdays on ABC. Spoilers have already been revealed regarding Callie Torres and Arizona Robbin's infidelity issues, intern Joe and Alex Karev's relationship status, and if Cristina Yang will ever have a child with Owen Hunt.
