The film adaptation of E.L. James' racy erotica, 50 Shades of Grey, continues to stir up anticipation over the groundbreaking role of Christian Grey. One name that has fallen under the radar lately that may just be a good fit is Irish actor Cillian Murphy.

With his deep green eyes and well defined features, Murphy clearly has the looks that fit the bill for the Grey role.

Interesting enough, several fans were reportedly favoring Murphy to land the part of the S&M-crazed billionaire back in 2012, according to The Wall Street Journal.

While addressing the prospect of playing Grey, the 37-year-old had stated that he had "no strategy, no plan. You just read the script. If you like it, you like it," he said.

Screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who is currently working on the movie script, said that she'd be adhering to the context of the books with lots of sex and raunchiness.

Producers are shooting for an NC-17 rating, according to a write-up in Style magazine.  Although they've yet to officially attach a director to the franchise, 50 Shades of Grey is slated for its big screen release in summer of 2014. The film will be shot in London.
