The feud between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey has allegedly taken a new turn. The American rapper is said to be interested in Nick Cannon, the former husband of Carey.

As a refresher, back in 2012, when Minaj and Carey were judges on "American Idol" with Keith Urban and Randy Jackson, the two female judges engaged in an argument that resulted in halting the filming for two days, Hip Hop DX reports. According to the transcript of their argument, Carey was telling Minaj that she is not being respectful. The 34-year-old rapper was fed up with the diva's run down on her accomplishment. "You're the insecure one sittin' up there running down her résumé every five minutes," Minaj said.

Last year, People reported that Carey has been saying things to Minaj from day one. The "I Don't" singer does not think that Minaj can sing and she should not be judging contestants on "American Idol."

Minaj may not really be poking Carey, but there have been speculations that the Trinidadian-born singer is getting cozy with Cannon to make Carey jealous. Rumors are rife that, Minaj finds the former "America's Got Talent" host sexy. She reportedly fell in love with his Instagram stories and is not shy in complimenting him through direct messages.

Cannon is Carey's ex-husband, but she should not care if rumors that Minaj is flirting with him are true or not. Why? The fact is Carey is very happy with her relationship with boyfriend Bryan Tanaka.

Just recently, Tanaka shared a photo of him and Carey somewhere on a resort island. He captioned it with "Starting the anniversary festivities in a relaxing chic environment. Happy Anniversary." Meanwhile, the 47-year-old singer also shared a photo of her bearing gifts as she celebrates her anniversary with her Instagram followers. She captioned it with "Let the anniversary festivities begin." Minaj's interest on Cannon should be the last thing on Carey's mind right now.
