The only investigator who worked for a long time, unpaid, to find the beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey's killer died tragically.

Ollie Gray is the private detective hired by Ramsey's family over the 6-year-old's death. For 20 years, the investigator has followed the case religiously and has even developed his own theory about who killed the young lady.

The detective went on to work sans pay and even after struggling with Parkinson's disease. Apparently, it was the police's fault for not busting out who the real killer is.

"You have to look for something in order to find something, and unfortunately for this particular case, you had a totally inexperienced police agency. There are probably three or four people that should have been investigated earlier and still need to be investigated," Gray said.

However, the investigator's disease became more potent that he suffered from other severe health diseases as well. According to RadarOnline, his friend Bruce Plasket "wasn't surprised to hear it, but saddened nonetheless."

Plasket is the one who broke the unfortunate news about the detective's death via an April 11 Facebook post.

Meanwhile, Gray's death could also mean that JonBenet's case will never be solved.

"With his passing, the slim chances of the JonBenet Ramsey murder ever being solved have essentially evaporated. Very sad," Plasket said.

JonBenet Ramsey is an American child beauty queen. She was found dead at home in Colorado with a fracture on his head in December 1996.

There were many theories as to who killed the young beauty queen and some of whom involved her parents John and Patsy.

However, until now, no one was convicted guilty for her case and with Gray's death, there must be little to no chance at all to find out what really happened nor who's responsible for the killing.
