Season 12 of The Voice is still making its way through the live shows, but looking forward an exciting new face will be joining the coaching panel for season 13.

The Voice's Instagram account made it official that Jennifer Hudson will be joining as a coach for the show's next installment. Hudson will join, and round out the panel with previous coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Miley Cyrus.

"Jennifer is an extraordinary vocal talent and one of the premier voices of our time. She embodies the experience, expertise, positivity and sheer talent that The Voice stands for," Paul Telegdy of NBC Entertainment said in a statement. "Her exceptional skills as a singer and actress have extended to film, television and Broadway, which makes her an incredible addition and a natural fit for our show."

Hudson is a critically acclaimed singer and actress. She is well known for her various successful albums and staring in the film adaptation of Dreamgirls, for which she received rave reviews, an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe. Additionally, she has made multiple television appearances on shows such as Empire and Smash. Along with her successful career, she is also known for her weight loss journey and advocacy for healthy living.

Hudson rose to popularity when she appeared on season 3 of American Idol. Consistently receiving rave reviews from the judges, it was a shock when she was eliminated in 7th place, falling well short of the finale. Amid rumors that Kelly Clarkson will be joining American Idol for its reboot, Hudson is the first ever alum from the show to be joining the NBC hit. In the past, Clarkson had been a guest on The Voice as a mentor way back in season 2.
