The Top 5 Funniest Skits From This Month's Saturday Night Live Episodes (VIDEO)

From scandals to unfortunate political situations, the one thing that has helped lighten the mood during these times is Saturday Night Live.

Since 1975, SNL has been one of NBC's most iconic and successful shows. Movies such as The Blues Brothers and Wayne's World, have been created from skits featured on the show. SNL has remained a beacon to the American people with a message that says, "if we can laugh at our problems together, then we can make them less scary."

In recent days, the show had no shortage of political drama to become inspired for skits. Whether its lies being uncovered or drama from political scenes, there is always something to talk about.

This past month, SNL has featured a lot of new content. When it comes to the best skits, there are quite a few to choose from. In the list below, we explore some of the moments that had the best lasting impressions on us.

1- "Lester Holt Cold Open"- Alec Baldwin does an outstanding job in his role as Donald Trump. The skit focuses on the recent James Comey situation. Baldwin's impression of Trump calls Paul Ryan a "nerd" and openly admits to obstruction of justice. His emotionless impression makes the skit so hysterical.

2- "Sean Spicer Returns"- Melissa McCarthy's impression of Sean Spicer stole the spotlight. Returning for a second round, McCarthy delivers more of her iconic jokes that have audience members begging her to return for more.

3- "Morning Joe Cold Open"- Kate McKinnon is an absolute star member of the SNL cast. From her Hillary Clinton impressions to other wacky characters, she never fails to steal a scene. In this recent cold opening, she lampoons Morning Joe and her performance exceeded everyone's expectations.

4- "Game Show"- With the talent of Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy, seeing them in a skit together is a dream come true. As they make fun of a typical game show, this skit had audience members unable to stop laughing.

5- "Hallelujah Cold Open"- At the season finale, cast members performed a Leonard Cohen classic. Aside from all the emotion, the hilarity from the subtle actions of the cast members brought laughter to all.
