In the wake of Chris Cornell's recent suicide on the night of May 17, 2017, his wife Vicky Cornell has released an open letter to her late husband, which was shared yesterday on Billboard.com. In the letter, she goes into detail about their close relationship and her despair in losing him.

"You had always said I saved you, that you wouldn't be alive if it were not for me," the letter says. "My heart gleamed to see you happy, living and motivated. Excited for life. Doing everything you could to give back. We had the time of our lives in the last decade and I'm sorry, my sweet love, that I did not see what happened to you that night."

Cornell's suicide came as a shock to many. For Vicky, she believes she will see Chris again. Until then, she will focus on taking care of their children. Cornell left behind three kids ages 16, 12 and 11.

"I'm broken, but I will stand up for you and I will take care of our beautiful babies," Vicky goes on to say. "I will think of you every minute of every day and I will fight for you. You were right when you said we are soulmates. It has been said that paths that have crossed will cross again, and I know that you will come find me, and I will be here waiting."

After performing with his band Soundgarden at the Fox Theater, Chris, 52, was found dead in his hotel room in Detroit. His death has since been ruled a suicide by hanging by the Medical Examiner's Office in Wayne County, Michigan. For Vicky though, she has since said in a statement that she believes his death was actually an accident.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Vicky and the rest of the Cornell family.
