Last night during the NBC event centered around Red Nose Day, a special episode of American Ninja Warrior was aired, which featured nine celebrities competing in a strenuous obstacle course to raise money for children in poverty.

The hour long edition saw celebrities such as Derek Hough, Jeff Dye and Stephen Amell paired with coaches who helped prepare them for the challenges. For every obstacle in the course that the celebrities managed to conquer, $5,000 would be donated to the Red Nose Day charity, which was focusing on raising awareness and helping children in poverty.

As the event was for charity, the rules of the obstacle course were lenient and even allowed shortcuts. Additionally, with the celebrities only having minimal time to prepare, if the challenge was too difficult they were allowed to switch with their coach who could complete it for them. Any challenges completed solely by a coach did not earn any money however.

The star of the night was Amell, best known for his role as Oliver Queen / Green Arrow on CW's hit superhero show, Arrow. His performance was remarkably strong, and earned him rave reviews from his large following on social media. Amell raised a total of $35,000 for his run, completing all of the obstacles.

The Red Nose Day event also saw a reunion from the Love Actually cast in a segment called Red Nose Day Actually. In the hours leading up to the event, "Red Nose Day" was a trending topic and saw celebrities and fans alike sharing pictures of themselves wearing the iconic red noses.
