Chris Cornell's ashes were buried in a private ceremony that took place on Friday at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. According to TMZ, his final resting place sits a few feet away from fellow rock singer, Johnny Ramone of the Ramones. In life, the two were great friends. Attending the ceremony were his family and close friends, among which were Billy Idol, Jimmy Page and Joe Walsh.

The memorial service featured music and eulogies. PEOPLE reports that Soundgarden music was played, and Chester Bennington of Linkin Park delivered a performance of Hallelujah, by Leonard Cohen. Musician Tom Morello and acclaimed actor Josh Brolin both delivered eulogies. While Cornell's funeral service was private, a public memorial took place later that day where fans could come and pay their respects.

Chris, 52, was found dead from a suicide by hanging in his hotel room in Detroit after performing with his band Soundgarden on May 18, 2017. His wife, Vicky Cornell, has recently come forward with details about his final hour of life, during which they spoke on the phone and Chris was slurring his words. Chris's behavior prompted Vicky to call his bodyguard to check up on him. After breaking down two of the hotel doors, the bodyguard found Chris' body with track marks.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Vicky and the rest of the Cornell family.
