A photo has gone viral of the mysterious electro pop music duo Daft Punk unmasked.

Another electro pop group, The Knocks, posted a picture of the two members of Daft Punk- Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christ-, not wearing their signature robot helmet masks onto their Facebook page this week. In the photo, the two French men are drinking alcohol at Sony/Columbia’s office, according to the post.

The picture was captioned: “Daft Punk playing champagne beer pong (without helmets on) in the Sony offices.”

The image went viral and was screengrabbed abnd published in reports but it has since been deleted. Several websites published the image before it was taken down. The image went viral because it is the first time the French artists have been seen unmasked in a decade.

The Knocks later deleted the picture and reportedly updated their Facebook that read: "GUESS WE WEREN’T SUPPOSED TO POST THAT PIC: X.”

The Knocks later defended themselves on Twitter and wrote they did not take the picture and thought the image had already "blown up.

Bangalter discussed the pros and cons of hiding his identity in an interview last month.

"One thing I like about the masks is that I don't have people constantly coming up to me and reminding me what I do," Bangalter told Rolling Stone. "It's nice to be able to forget, but there are occasional downsides. Several years ago in Ibiza some guy ran up exorbitant bar tabs at clubs while claiming to be me. "
