America's Got Talent judge Howie Mandel revealed some insider secrets about some of the acts featured on Tuesday's premiere.

One of the most buzzed-about moments from the season 8 premiere of America's Got Talent was Mandel biting into the "world's hottest pepper."

He bit into it after seeing one act get into a bathtub of ice while eating the pepper, trying to taste for himself how hot it really was.

In his column for Parade magazine on Thursday, he said that he regretted the decision.

"It wasn't worth it, it was stupid, it was painful, it was thoughtless. I'm not proud of it. But you know, I get it. I guess I'm at one with the people who show up on our stage!"

Mandel also talked about David "The Cobra Kid" Weathers, whose act involved a rattlesnake biting a balloon out of his [David's] mouth.

"There needed to be 25 vials of anti-venom available at a hospital," Mandel revealed. "If somebody else came in and they had to use the anti-venom, then there wouldn't be enough left, and that guy could die."

He also dished about some of the best acts, including 10-year-old singing sensation Anna Christine and levitation act Special Head.

On the former he wondered, "How does a 10-year-old have that kind of soul, that kind of talent, that kind of poise?"

He was also shocked to see how much Special Head resembled him.

"I can't say enough about Special Head and his levitation act. Not only was his illusion incredible, but it was like looking in the mirror."

After the preliminary auditions, the acts perform in Las Vegas for the judges, who determine which acts move on to the live rounds. Early favorites like Anna Christine and Special Head are likely to advance, especially with Mandel praising them outside the show.

In other AGT news, 11.22 million viewers watched the Tuesday premiere, receiving the most viewers of the night.
