Jennifer Lopez has stated in an interview with U.K.'s Stylist magazine that female artists are taking over the music industry.

Lopez said she has been in the music business for so long that she is ''here to stay'' and that a lot of male artists are not doing as well because females have been breaking the industry for over 20 years, she said after performing with a number of famous female singers at the Sound for Change benefit concert in Tickenham, U.K., on Sunday, June 2.

''Women have taken over the music industry - when you think of all the female artists who are out," she said.

''Even going back 20 years, back to Cher, Gloria Estefan and that whole time with Mariah Carey and Celine Dion and then the next wave which was me and then Britney [Spears] and Beyonce to what's continued to now the Rihanna and Lady Gaga," she added.

Lopez performed at the benefit concert, as did Beyonce, Madonna, Ellie Goulding and Mary J Blige to promote the Chime for Change charity, founded by Gucci, Salma Hayek and Beyonce.

The foundation aims to promote health, education and other opportunities for women and young girls worlwide.

Gucci has a seven-year relationship with UNICEF, which has included support for girls' education. The company also supports the Kering Corporate Foundation, which focuses on ending violence against women.

Lopez had taken time off of working in order to focus on being a mother.

She said she did not feel any pressure to go right back to work after giving birth to her now five-year-old twins, Emme and Max, whom she has with ex-husband Marc Anthony. She said she was happy to take her time.

''I didn't think about that too much because I had waited so long to have babies and was so happy to be pregnant and to give birth to children that I was really consumed with that for a couple of years," she explained.

"It took a good two years before I really got back on my feet and could concentrate on my career again,'' Lopez said.

The video for Lopez' single with Pitbull, Live It Up, debuted in May and started at No. 33 on the Billboard charts.

Lopez is an executive producer on the new ABC Family series The Fosters, which stars Terri Polo (Meet the Parents).
