Acclaimed actress, Cameron Diaz, has broken her silence about why she hasn't been acting lately.

In a panel over the weekend at the Goop Wellness Summit, Diaz spoke about her marriage and mentioned that she needed a break to focus on finding herself.

"I just went, 'I can't really say who I am to myself.' Which is a hard thing to face up to," Diaz explained. "I felt the need to make myself whole."

Diaz's last acting role was Annie, which was released in 2014.

Since then, she has taken a break from the spotlight and settled down with her husband, Benji Madden.

Diaz was also asked about her marriage and why she waited until she was 41 to get married. She said it was because she just had not found the right person yet.

"I think it's a matter of I just hadn't met my husband, you know? I had boyfriends before. And there's a really, really distinct difference between husbands and boyfriends. And I have a husband who is just my partner in life and in everything," Diaz went on to say.

Now that she is married, Diaz has nothing but good things to say about her husband.

Madden, who is also the band Good Charlotte's singer and guitarist, married Diaz in 2015.

They had been together for less than a year when they announced that they would be getting married.

"Talk about two very different people!" Diaz elaborated. "We are so different from one another, but we share the same values-we're totally two peas in a pod. We are both just weird enough for each other"

Although Diaz hasn't announced any films she will be working on this year, her husband is very supportive and will always be there for her.

"We women are objectified so much," Diaz said. "Somehow my husband has just been able to kind of show me what it's like not to have that be a part of a relationship, and being an equal."
