Could Giuliana Rancic return to E! News to replace Maria Menounos, who shocked fans with news that she was quitting the show as she recovers from brain tumor surgery?

According to a new report, Rancic is reportedly asking for her job back as the E! Network scrambles to find a replacement for their former co-host.

“Obviously Giuliana is begging to return as E! News host,” a production insider revealed to Radar Online on Wednesday, "but as of right now, the network execs are just trying to find a suitable replacement for Maria."

"She is going to be a really tough act to follow!” the source added.

As for Menounos' co-host, Jason Kennedy, he is reportedly “devastated” by her exit.

“Jason loved working alongside Maria, and the two of them were a perfect match,” the insider explained.

Rancic left E! News two years ago after making a controversial comment about Zendaya Coleman's hair smelling of patchouli oil on E!’s Fashion Police.

On Monday, after sharing the shocking news of her brain tumor discovery and removal, Menounos took to Instagram to thank her fans for their support.

"I wanna say thank you all for the well wishes, prayers, and support. It's been a crazy time here in our home. I want you all to know that I'm ok! Seriously I'm recovering well and should be as good as new very very soon! Luckily I don't need any further treatments," she wrote.

Menounos first shared her news with People magazine in a cover story on stands now.
