Luckily for Jim Beaver, the death on Supernatural is rarely permanent.

The current Justified actor previously held the eight-season role of Bobby Singer on the CW sci-fi hit Supernatural. A veritable surrogate father to the Winchester boys, Bobby was killed off in season 7 while fighting Dick Roman and the Leviathans. It turns out Beaver was as reluctant to leave the show as his character was to leave Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) on their own.

While viewers caught a glimpse of the veteran hunter during the season 8 episode "Taxi Driver," Beaver is still hoping the series will find a way to resurrect the baseball capped, "idjit" mumbling character.

"In my heart of hearts, I keep hoping they'll find a way to bring the old boy back again on a more constant basis," Beaver told Starpulse.

Bobby's final season 7 episode, "Death's Door," was the second Bobby-centric installment the series has put out. However, it conveyed so much information on the character's past and paternal attachment to the Winchester brothers that it served as one of the more fitting farewells the show has produced.

"I was very unhappy about being killed off on Supernatural in season 7," Beaver said, according to Starpulse. "But they gave me one of the greatest send-off episodes an actor could possibly dream of ("Death's Door") and my sudden freedom meant I was thus available to do season four of Justified."

Despite shooting for the FX drama, Beaver returned to the Supernatural crew in Vancouver to film "Taxi Driver." After being unfairly dragged to hell following his death, Bobby is rescued by Sam only to find out that the boys had drifted from their moorings since his death.

"I was delighted to go back for a single episode in season eight," Beaver claims. "I miss the cast and crew of Supernatural immensely."

While his departure opens up a new dynamic in which Sam and Dean have try and compensate for their occasional loss of morel direction without the tutelage of their former companion, Bobby remains a sorely missed character that Supernatural would do well to bring back, if only temporarily, at some point in the future.
