Fans of Steve Irwin's daughter, Bindi Irwin, were shocked by an erroneous report of her death, when the topic became a major trend on several websites.

The truth is the daughter of the deceased Crocodile Hunter is alive and doing well. At first, it seemed that Bindi was just another celebrity who fell victim to a manufactured death hoax, but in fact the rumors of her demise were the result of a glitch in the Internet trends.

The cause of the online malfunction is unclear, but Bindi's name has been trending lately because of the April release of her film Return to Nim's Island as well as the online buzz caused by published photos of the 14-year-old looking all grown up.

The young wildlife explorer also made news recently for a spat she had with former first lady Hillary Clinton. Bindi said an essay she wrote for Clinton's e-journal was edited in a way that misconstrued her message about wildlife conservation and overpopulation, according to Sydney's Daily Telegraph. She later withdrew the essay from the journal.

The uptick in web activity associated with the teen actress and the fact that Bindi was often referred to as "Steve Irwin's daughter" in web searches, probably linked Bindi to her father's death. Steve Irwin was killed in 2006 when a stingray pierced his chest with its tail spine, while he was filming a documentary in Australia.

Fans learned Bindi wasn't deceased after she posted a video on her Twitter account of her recent trip to Hong Kong, which included vintage footage of her father from his days on The Crocodile Hunter.

Bindi has followed in her father's footsteps by staring in several wildlife-themed televisions shows, like Steve Irwin's Wildlife Warriors. She has also appeared in films such as Free Willy: Escape from Pirate's Cove.
