It looks like Olivia Pope is at the point of no return on ABC’s Scandal. However, actor Tony Goldwyn, who plays former President, and Olivia’s on-again-off-again love interest, Fitzgerald Grant (AKA Fitz), has revealed he’s hopeful she’ll come back around.

Considering this is the final season of the hit Shondaland series, it’s safe to say she has a limited number of episodes to do so. But if you ask Goldwyn, that’s plenty of time for Fitz to put on his own white hat and save the day.

“I do believe Fitz can pull Olivia back from the black home she is slipping into, but it will not be easy,” he said during an interview with Us Weekly at the 2017 Americares Airlift Benefit Thursday. “I have no idea if Shonda [Rhimes] intends for him to be successful in that effort. We will have to wait and see what she has in store for us.”

Goldwyn is waiting just like the rest of the show’s fans. He admitted he has “no clue how this ride will end.” But he did reveal an ending he’s rooting for when it comes to Liv and Fitz.

“My hope is that both Fitz and Olivia are able to navigate their own personal crucibles successfully enough to – as Shonda says – ‘earn’ a future together.”

Fans are certainly 'team Liv and Fitz' as the two have been teasing viewers with their romance since the show first aired in April 2012. It was announced that this season, the seventh, would also mark the final one.

As for his support of Americares, Goldwyn said he was inclined to do so after considering his own upbringings.

“I lead a charmed life simply because of the circumstances of my birth,” he added. “I have had opportunities that are out of reach to most people on this planet. I feel a responsibility to do whatever I can to help bring the gifts of health and prosperity to others.”

He added a trip to Guatemala was also a major factor.

“What really inspired me in Guatemala was the passionate commitment to Americares’ local partners, who are the ones who serve their community day in and day out. I saw firsthand how a small group of nuns have changed the lives of hundreds of girls by taking them in when their families could not afford to them.”

Scandal airs on ABC Thursdays at 9/8c. Be sure to keep up with Enstars for the latest.
