At a listening session to promote his upcoming album, Yeezus, Kanye West unveiled a short horror film in Los Angeles on Friday night.

For the last few weeks, West has been promoting the first single off the album, New Slaves, by projecting the video of the song onto buildings across the country, including Houston, Detroit and Baltimore. He took a similar approach with the two-minute short film, which played on the wall outside the Milk Studios.

The film is reminiscent of the Mary Haron-directed American Psycho, and features an ax-wielding Scott Disick in the role of the deranged Patrick Bateman (played by Christian Bale in the original movie released in 2000). The film also stars Kim Kardashian's friend Jonathan Cheban, who Disick hacks to death with an axe in a scene.

It's unclear what was being said by the characters in the film because of the loud music from Yeezus being played at the event, and even less is known about the purpose of the film.

West has shown his directorial flare in the past. He's directed several of his own music videos--Jesus Walks, Flashing Lights and Heard 'Em Say--as well as others for the likes of artists like Drake. And West usually has significant creative input in all his projects. There aren't reports about who directed the flick, but the visuals are similar to those from West's equally gory Monster music video.

The listening party eventually met the fate of West's other promotional stops when the police intervened and asked that the music be turned off.

West was a no-show at the event, but celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Tyler the Creator, Evan Ross, and Disick himself were in attendance along with journalists and other industry heads.

Yeezus is set to be released on June 18th, 2013, but the album was leaked on several file-sharing websites yesterday.
