Kelly Dodd's Divorce Heats Up, 'RHOC' Star Hires Attorney

Kelly Dodd is ready to start the process of officially ending her marriage to husband Michael.

According to a new report, the 42-year-old Real Housewives of Orange County star filed for an attorney substitution on Monday, Nov. 13, just as the finale of Season 12 aired on Bravo TV.

On Nov. 14, Radar Online shared a report with readers in which they revealed that an Orange County Supreme Court docket had confirmed the latest update in Dodd's split from Michael, which was initially started in 2012. As fans of the series can recall, Dodd was going to split from her husband years ago but after spending some time apart, they decided to put their divorce on hold in 2014.

Prior to their appearance on The Real Housewives of Orange County, Kelly and Michael Dodd began the process of divorcing but because the entire thing was a "nightmare," they reconciled for the sake of their young daughter, Jolie. However, during their split, a number of shocking allegations were made. Among them was a claim made by Michael, which suggested his reality star wife had ditched their child in lieu of living a partying lifestyle. Michael also filed for a restraining order against Dodd, which was dropped after she completed 10 Alcoholics Anonymous classes.

After attempting to reconcile their marriage for the past several years, Dodd announced in September that she was done with her marriage and not looking back. As Radar Online revealed, Newport Beach police were called to the now-estranged couple's Southern California home six times in three days earlier this year.

Last month, Dodd spoke to People magazine about her decision to file for divorce and revealed that her 11-year-old daughter is actually happy to see her and Michael's troubled relationship come to an end.

“I just realized my parents’ relationship wasn’t healthy, and mine isn’t either,” she said. “My daughter isn’t happy with us — I mean, she’s happy that we’re divorcing. It’s better for her. She’s actually really happy.”

“I’m sad — I’m sad I can’t call him all the time and be excited about something. I don’t have that — the friendship element of it, or someone who has my back," she added.
