Tom Hiddleston's fans may be disappointed to learn that Loki will not figure into the plot of The Avengers 2.

Writer/director Joss Whedon let the news slip during a podcast for Empire. When asked if the second installment about the superhero team would feature any more amusing, archaic old English banter, Whedon admitted that there won't be a character there that would be hurling those sort of insults.

"Everyone is going to be looking for the Loki-Hulk smash moment and you'll be looking for 'quim,'" Whedon told Empire. "No, first of all, imitating what I did before is the surest way to do it not as well. Second of all, Loki's not there to say those terrible things."

While fans may bemoan both the loss of "mewling quim" and their favorite mischief-maker, Hiddelston remarks that it could be a smart move not to have Loki fight the Avengers again.

"I haven't spoken to Joss," Hiddelston stated last December when asked if he would be in the 2015 film, according to MSN. "So I suspect not, only because I think that probably the audiences are tired of Loki being the bad guy. Maybe the Avengers need somebody else to fight."

However, Hiddelston can be seen teaming up with his thunderous brother Thor in Thor: The Dark World when it comes to theaters in November.
