It looks like things are turning around for Tyrese Gibson as he scored a huge win over the weekend. The Fast and Furious star now has joint custody of his daughter, Shayla.

Nasty Custody Battle

After what seemed to be one of the nastiest custody battles in history, the judge presiding over the case ruled in Tyrese's favor. Initially, things didn't look too well for the singer. After being accused of severely beating his daughter by his ex-wife Norma and violating the restraining order she obtained against him when he sent various gifts and a banner to Shayla's school, Gibson suffered mentally and emotionally from the battle and took to social media to vent his frustrations.

Norma's lawyer tried to use this against Gibson by suggesting that the singer needed to undergo a mental evaluation. This followed the news that Gibson would be representing himself in court.

Norma's lawyer also brought up Tyrese's various videos he posted on social media where he commented on his rage and sadness over not having his child. Gibson explained the reason behind his bizarre actions was because of an antidepressant drug prescribed to him by his doctor to help him cope with his depression but the side effects caused him to act irrationally.

Gibson also checked himself into the hospital following the first custody hearing. Many of his fans began to worry about the Prior to You singer's mental health. However, Gibson reassured his fans that he was working on something great and would be back stronger than ever.

A Happy Reunion

Gibson took to social media to express his joy in finally being reunited with his daughter.

"Friday was not a win for me, it is a win for our daughter, Shayla. Who unfortunately has been exposed to tension, private and public embarrassment and growing up and feeling torn between 2 parents who are no longer married......," Gibson posted. "It is a win because she gets to spend equal time with both of her parents in joint legal custody while she continues to grow in a happy and healthy environment - this has always been and will continue to be my priority."

Court Sets A Few Conditions

However, Gibson's victory does come with a few rules. Reportedly, Gibson is not allowed to use "corporal punishment" when reprimanding his daughter. He and Shayla must attend a joint therapy session with a psychologist. Gibson must also attend parenting classes.

Given how not having his daughter caused him an emotional distress, Gibson will expectedly follow these conditions. Gibson will have Shayla for Christmas and New Year.
