This week’s new movie box office releases includes 21 Jump Street, and an assortment of limited releases headlined by Will Ferrel’s Casa de Mi Padre, that will go up against previously released films the Lorax and John Carter.

21 Jump Street – Sony Pictures – Rated R – Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum

A pair of new police recruits joining the police force and the secret Jump Street unit, using their youthful appearances to go undercover in a local high school. The pair risk their lives to investigate a violent and dangerous drug ring. But they find that high school is nothing like they left it just a few years earlier - and neither expects that they will have to confront the terror and anxiety of being a teenager again and all the issues they thought they had left behind.

Casa de Mi Padre – Pantelion Films – Rated R – Will Ferrell, Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna – Limited Release
A rancher facing financial strains reunites with a brother who pledges to settle all his father’s debts. But when the new arrival’s business dealings turn out to be less than legitimate, the family finds itself in a full-out war with Mexico’s most feared drug Lord.

Detachment – Tribeca Film – Not Yet Rated – Adrien Brody, James Caan, Christina Hendricks, Lucy Liu – Limited Release

The film features a substitute teacher who conveniently avoids any emotional connections by never staying anywhere long enough to form a bond with either his students or colleagues and is grappling with a troubled past. Finding himself at a public school where an apathetic student body has created a frustrated, burned-out administration, he inadvertently becomes a role model to his students, while also bonding with a runaway teen who is just as lost as he is. The teacher finds that he’s not alone in a life and death struggle to find beauty in a seemingly vicious and loveless world.

In a dystopian future, a relentless turf war rages. Two rival gangs feud for control of rural wasteland Frazier Park ('The FP') in the deadly arena of competitive dance-fight video game "Beat-Beat Revelation."

Jeff, Who Lives at Home – Paramount Vantage – Rated R – Jason Segal, Ed Helms, Susan Sarandon, Judy Greer - Limited Release

On his way to the store to buy wood glue, Jeff looks for signs from the universe to determine his path. However, a series of comedic and unexpected events leads him to cross paths with his family in the strangest of locations and circumstances. Jeff just may find the meaning of his life... and if he's lucky, pick up the wood glue as well.

The Kid with a Bike – Sundance Selects - Not Yet Rated – Cecile De France, Thomas Doret, Jeremie Renier, Fabrizio Rongione - Limited Release

The film delves into the emotional life of a troubled 11-year old boy. When his father abandons him, the boy obsessively searches for his bicycle -placing his last bit of hope in this symbol of their relationship.

Natural Selection – Best Medicine Productions – Rated R – Rachael harris, Matthew O’Leary, Jon Gries, John Diehl - Limited Release

Linda White, a barren Christian housewife, leads a sheltered existence in suburban Texas. Her world is turned upside-down when she discovers that her dying husband, Abe, has a 23-year old illegitimate son named Raymond living in Florida.
