Shailene Woodley's new movie The Spectacular Now's first trailer was released on Wednesday.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager star shares the screen with Miles Teller (Rabbit Hole) as teens who gradually fall in love. Woodley plays Aimee, a quirky sci-fi geek and Teller plays Sutter, a popular jock-type. The film chronicles how the pair comes together despite their many differences.

In the trailer, Sutter breaks up with his girlfriend (played by Brie Larson) and soon makes a connection with Aimee. As their relationship intensifies, Sutter asks Aimee, "Do you not see that I'm bad for you? You need to get away from me." Later, Aimee tells him, "You have the biggest heart of anyone I know."

The Spectacular Now is written by the same screenwriters of (500) Days of Summer and has a similarly indie romance feel, at least from the trailer. The film received rave reviews at the Sundance Film Festival where it premiered in January. It won the festival's Special Jury Prize for Acting.

"The scars and blemishes on the faces of the high-school lovers in The Spectacular Now are beautifully emblematic of director James Ponsoldt's bid to bring the American teen movie back to some semblance of reality, a bid that pays off spectacularly indeed," said Variety movie critic Rob Nelson.

Peter Sciretta of Slashfilm said, that The Spectacular Now was "everything I hope a Sundance movie to be . . . it tells [its] story without the forced nostalgia of other Hollywood films."

Even the film's cast had high praise for the picture. Teller told MTV in January, "It's a tough time to be a kid. This is very real. You see the behind-the-scenes. It's great. It's beautifully written."

The Spectacular Now is rated R for alcohol use, language and some sexuality - all involving teens.

It is set to come out in theaters on August 2.
