Vlogger Logan Paul has a rough start to 2018. The famous social media star has announced that he is taking a hiatus from posting content.

Suicide In Japan

Paul's 2018 started off on the wrong note when he posted a video while the social media sensation was visiting Japan. Paul, who has over 15 million YouTube subscribers, took his audience to the Aokigahara region of the country.

In Japanese culture, the Aokigahara is a haunting forest where some travelers have reported that they have seen dead bodies. Paul and his friends were the latest visitors to experience this eerie encounter in person after they found a dead body during their travels.

The YouTuber posted this haunting experience onto the social media network on Dec. 31, 2017. Paul's video shocked not only the Logang, Paul's fanbase but also disturbed many internet users.

The backlash that Paul received was swift and quick. Many Twitter users led by Breaking Bad actor, Aaron Paul, scolded the YouTuber for his inappropriate actions.

The social media sensation made a statement on Monday, Jan. 1, saying that the original purpose of the video was to increase awareness regarding suicide. Paul also released a video apology onto YouTube on Tuesday, Jan. 2, which received over 28 million views.

Paul Takes A Break

On Wednesday, Jan. 3, Paul posted a simple statement on Twitter regarding his future on YouTube.

Paul’s tweet received over 14,000 retweets and over 113,000 likes. The social media network was left divided as several members of the Logang were depressed that they are not going to see any material from their hero and also defended Paul.

Other Twitter users were not as forgiving and strongly advised Paul’s fans to abandon ship.

“Please for your sake, get better role models to get you through your day,” one user tweeted.

Japanese Twitter users also voiced their outrage against the social media star and unanimously commented that Paul should not come to the country again.

YouTube Trouble Makers

As Paul reflects on his actions and contemplates his next move, he might want to think about what happened after several high-profile YouTube users experienced controversy.

Swedish social media star PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, lost a majority of his endorsements and a high-profile sponsorship from the Maker Studios after he made anti-Semitic commentary in several of his videos.

Another YouTuber, Juan Luis Laguna Rosales, known to fans as the "El Pirata de Culiacán," lost his life after he made inflammatory remarks against an alleged Mexican drug lord known as "El Mencho."

There have been no reports that Paul has been dropped from any upcoming projects or sponsorships due to this controversy.
