WWE has suspended Cruiserweight champion Enzo Amore amid allegations that he raped a woman inside a hotel room last year.

Enzo Amore Suspended Amid Rape Investigation

The wrestling company announced on Monday, Jan. 22, that it suspended Amore, whose real name is Eric Arndt, while the Arizona police investigate the rape allegations against the pro-wrestler.

"WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving sexual harassment or sexual assault," WWE said in a statement on its website. "Until this matter is resolved, Eric Arndt (aka Enzo Amore) has been suspended."

The Rape Allegations

A woman, who goes by the name of Philomena, took to Twitter under the handle @MissGucciWitch and claimed that Amore raped her in a hotel room in October and his friends allowed it to happen.

"OKAY..it's been long enough & I have been so so scared to share this. I was raped in mid October by the WWE Enzo Amore [also known as Eric Arden(sic)] & Tyler Grosso & TOOPOOR let it happen as accomplices," she wrote.

She went on to reveal that she spent 45 days in a mental hospital after the said incident.

The user then went on to share additional details on her alleged encounter with the WWE star. She claimed that one of Amore's friends asked her if she would perform oral sex on the 31-year-old wrestler before getting her high on drugs and leaving her alone with Amore.

The victim said that she was passed out on the sofa and although she tried to refuse Amore's advances, he restrained her and then proceeded to force himself on her. The woman pointed out that she was in a state of psychosis due to the drugs and she had no clue what was going on.

The Police Investigation

According to ProWrestlingSheet editor Ryan Satin, Phoenix Police Department has been investigating the rape allegations against Amore since October.

In an official statement, the police confirmed that they responded to a call about an alleged rape encounter that had apparently taken place on Oct. 19. Based on this allegation, they started an investigation.

The wrestling website also pointed out that a majority of the investigation is already wrapped up and that authorities are just waiting for the lab results to arrive.

Amore isn't the only WWE wrestler to grab headlines for all the wrong reasons over the last week. WWE Star Roman Reigns also found himself surrounded by controversy after he is being linked to a $10 million steroid ring by jailed steroid dealer Richard Rodriguez.
