While Kim Kardashian and Kanye West celebrate the birth of their baby girl, Instagram users have taken to the social media website to poke fun at the name the celebrity couple chose for their daughter.

They announced Thursday that their first child together will be named North West, and nicknamed Nori for short. TMZ broke the news after obtaining a copy of the baby's birth certificate. Making their own joke about the name, the news report stated, "West West is redundant ... South West is an airline ... and East West leads to nowhere. So, by default ... North West it is!" 

The hashtag #northwest went viral on Instagram late Thursday going into Friday. 

Early Friday, an Instagram user named laughingloudly3 uploaded a photo of a large compass with Kanye and Kardashian's bodies superimposed inside of it. The rapper points North with one hand and West with another, while both stars laugh. See the photo here. The same photo was then reposted by several others.

Only a few minutes before, a user by the name donniea21 uploaded a picture of a black baby wearing a diaper and having a large compass covering its face, directing the viewer Northwest. See the picture here.

Making a direct reference to Kanye's friendship with Jay-Z and Beyonce, who have a daughter of their own named Blue Ivy, x_chon_x posted a picture of the celebrity couple sitting courtside and laughing. The caption hinted to the fact that they were giggling about the choice of name Kanye gave his daughter.
