Over the past 24 hours, public interest has exponentially increased regarding the Natalie Wood mystery. Crucial evidence in the case has now been released.

What The Witnesses Saw

Decades after Wood drowned on Nov. 29, 1981, several key witnesses came forward and described the last time they saw the West Side Story actress alive.

The Los Angeles County's Sheriff Department representatives revealed that the witnesses stated they heard shouting on the Splendour, the boat that Wood shared with her final husband, Robert Wagner. The law enforcement agency noted that the witnesses heard two distinctive voices, one female, and one male, arguing very loudly.

"The statements from these new witnesses differ from the original version of events as related by previous witnesses, including the individuals on the boat," said the Los Angeles Country's Sheriff Department representative to CNN.

The individuals that the Los Angeles County's Sheriff Department representative include are three men that were with Wood on that fateful night. The men were Wagner, actor Christopher Walken, and the Splendour's captain, Dennis Davern.

The Person Of Interest

News of the brand new witnesses' accounts comes one day after the Los Angeles County's Sheriff Department have named Wagner a person of interest. The investigators believe that Wagner did play a role in Wood's untimely death.

"As we've investigated this case over the last six years, I think he's more of a persona of interest now. I mean, we know now that he was the last person to be with Natalie before she disappeared," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department lieutenant John Corina stated to CBS.

Corina stated that the Los Angeles County's Sheriff Department has attempted to speak with the silver screen veteran, but Wagner has not complied to answer their questions. Corina's statement to CBS contradicts a remark made by the actor's lawyer, Blair Berk, on Jan. 17, 2013. Berk commented that Wagner fully cooperated with the authorities over the past 30 years.

The Case's Milestones

As the potential case against Wagner grows, the legal case into the mysterious death of Natalie Wood will enter its 37th year of being unsolved. The Los Angeles County's Sheriff Department reopened the case in 2011.

One year after reopening the case, the Los Angeles County's Sheriff Department amended Wood's official death certificate in 2012, stating that the actress passed away from "drowning and other undetermined factors."
