Amy Acker, who played Root in Person of Interest's second season, is hopeful that she'll return for Season 3.

"Nothing is officially in the books," she told Entertainment Weekly on Friday. "I feel like they gotta bring me back. I want to come back. It is a fun character. She's smart and deliciously evil but with what she feels like are good reasons."

Root was last seen in an insane asylum in the Season 2 finale, getting a call from The Machine. The Machine asked her, "Can you hear me?" to which the obsessive character replied, "Absolutely."

Some are excited about the news that Acker may be returning, while others aren't as exuberant.

"Yes I hope Root returns soon," one fan said, in the comments section of the EW story.

"While the Root episodes were OK on Person of Interest, I much prefer the 'business as usual' episodes much better," said another fan.
