Imagine living in a dystopian future. Landmarks are destroyed, and everyone is fending for themselves. What do you do to escape reality temporarily?

Enter 'Ready Player One'

Steven Spielberg's newest film, Ready Player One, brings his vision of how people escape their nightmarish reality and head into the OASIS. The OASIS is short for Ontologically Anthropocentric Sensory Immersive Simulation, and its users can virtually engage in countless activities. Users can also distort their image by using virtual avatars to hide their real identities.

The New Trailer

Ready Player One follows the adventures of Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) as he uses his digital persona, Parzival, to go on missions and make new friends. However, there is one significant problem in this world. Innovative Online Industries executive Nolan Sorrento (Ben Mendelson) wants to control the OASIS and monopolize the virtual reality system.

"I came here to escape. I found friends. I found love, and now people have lost their lives," said Watts in the new trailer.

Throughout the Ready Player One trailer, viewers saw Watts join the Rebellion led by Samantha Cook and her virtual alter-ego, Art3mis (Olivia Cooke). The trailer gives a peek into the outlandish battles between the organization and Sorrento's forces as they search for the Easter Egg. The object was left by the OASIS' founder, James Halliday (Mark Rylan), and whoever finds it controls Halliday's legacy and the OASIS itself.

They Must Be Giant Easter Eggs

Yahoo! Entertainment discovered several monstrous Easter eggs that were included in the latest trailer. There was a T-rex that must have escaped from Jurassic World that was attacking residents in dystopian New York City. Also, there was a virtual simulation of King Kong himself who jumped out to the viewers.

In addition to these monstrous creatures, '90s kids would have also seen that one of the Easter Eggs from the film's poster made it to the movie. The Iron Giant was prominently featured in the new trailer. Entertainment Weekly also spotted the iconic cartoon Hello Kitty in the trailer.

Ernst Cline's Take

Ready Player One is the silver screen adaption of Ernst Cline's 2011 book of the same name. Before an earlier trailer was released, Cline revealed that he was satisfied with the direction Spielberg was taking with the film.

"If Willy Wonka was a video game designer instead of a candy maker and he held his golden ticket contest inside the world's greatest video game — that's the essence of what the story is," Cline told Deadline.

Ready Player One is expected to hit the silver screen on March 29.
