The legendary Lionel Richie has weighed in on his teenage daughter's budding romance with Scott Disick. And he's not too happy about it.

The "Hello" singer Richie previously made his feelings sort-of clear after being put on the spot by his daughter midway through an interview.

Back in November, Sofia told E! News that her father was supportive of their relationship, leading Lionel to jokingly make a finger gun and pretend to shoot himself.

Just A Phase

It now appears that Lionel may not have been kidding at all, as he's reportedly under the impression that his 19-year-old daughter's dalliance with 34-year-old Disick is just a phase — that she'll hopefully be out of shortly.

"When you're 19 you know everything. Is it going to be for life? I don't know. But for right now it's just a phase and I'm going to stand real still in the corner, get me a good drink and not make too much noise," Richie stated plainly.

Richie isn't really in a position to publicly go against Disick regardless.

"Sofia gets whatever she wants and is a Daddy's girl, so even though her father doesn't really approve of Scott, he's going with the flow to make her happy," a source told E! News.

Lionel even compared the relationship to his own when he was a youngster, stating it's given him a better understanding of his own parents' struggles.

"Now I know what my parents meant when I came through the door with my Afro and my girlfriend and said, 'Dad, I'm in love' and [he] looked at me and said, 'Okay, we're going to leave you alone for a minute and you'll figure it out,'" Lionel joked.

Drawing Criticism

Disick, who famously dated Kourtney Kardashian, the mother of his three children, on and off for 10 years started seeing Sofia in mid-2017. Sofia was previously spotted dancing for Disick to her father's music, which, by anybody's estimation, was a bit of an odd choice.

Back in October, the veteran singer was quoted as saying he was in shock over the relationship, but seems to have cooled down in the intervening months.

He's not the only one to have questioned the pairing either, with Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner asking Disick about Sofia straight out on an episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians. Jenner was particularly interested in her age, given her own daughter, Kylie, is just 20.

Disick and Kardashian called it quits in 2015. She began dating 24-year-old Algerian model Younes Bendjima in May of 2017, much to Disick's very public annoyance. The two share three children, Mason, 8, Penelope, 5, and Reign, 3.
