Scottie Pippen is making headlines for his involvement in a fight with a man outside a Malibu restaurant over the weekend.

TMZ reported that the former Chicago Bulls basketball star, who won six NBA titles was outside Nobu restaurant around 6:30pm Sunday when the altercation occurred, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore.

Witnesses said an argument between Pippen and the unidentified man, described in the report as a "50-something-year-old," asked the former NBA player for an autograph, when Pippen denied. The victim was then allegedly punched and kicked repeatedly by Pippen and was taken to a hospital due unspecified injuries that included broken teeth, a swollen mouth, as well as back and head injuries. The man left the hospital Monday morning.

Pippen reportedly left the scene before police arrived.

TMZ also noted that Pippen is the suspect in the report for assault with a deadly weapon, with the weapon being his shoes.

Whitmore said criminal charges could result from the incident and that several witnesses are being interviewed by investigators.

Currently, Pippen is a special adviser to the Chicago's Bulls team's president and chief operating officer. The Bulls declined to comment about the indicent Monday.

Meanwhile, Pippen recently defended Bulls' point guard, Derrick Rose's decision for sitting out the entire 2013-2013 while rehabbing his torn ACL in his left knee, after fans criticized him.

"As a player that has played this game, I know at the end of the day I've had numerous amount of surgeries, and the doctors released me at numerous amount of times to go and play. But a lot of those times didn't mean go and play against the best in the world right now, but to get yourself ready to compete again," he said earlier this month.

"Fans are demanding," Pippen added. "They want to win. They want it now. If you have an injury, they want you back the next day. It was a process.
