Sofia Richie and Scott Disick recently welcomed a new addition to the family, a puppy, and is named Hershela, thanks to the 34-year-old reality TV star.

In an interview, the 19-year-old model gushed over her more than 1-month-old puppy and narrated how her baby's name came out to be. Richie exclaimed that it was actually her beau who got the idea of what she finds a funny tag.

"My boyfriend named her ... I kind of just ran with it. It made me laugh. I liked Hershey and he liked Hershela, so it was like a middle ground," Richie explained.

The spelling for the dog's name is still unconfirmed. Meanwhile, Richie clarified that Disick had the right to name the puppy, especially that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was the one who gave her the dog.

She further spilled that Disick had long expressed his desire for a dog, and so when he finally gave her one, Richie decided to grant him a chance to name the pet.

Disick all the more had given Richie a newfound happiness. The daughter of singer Lionel Richie shared that she had been captivated by the puppy so much that she quipped that she had gone lunatic over Hershela, or Hersh in short.

The puppy might have been a gift of love by Disick, but it looked like they are raising Hershela together. The pup made its first public appearance on photo-sharing app Instagram on Feb. 16, which showed Richie and the puppy cozying it up.

The video, uploaded on Instagram Stories, was captioned with, "Our newest family member."

Whether this could lead to a stronger relationship or not, fans of the pair would have to wait. The puppy could also pave the way for Richie and Disick to try their luck in this big responsibility. The controversial couple had been dating for less than a year.

Support

They were seen together in numerous sightings the past year but only confirmed that they were dating in September. Disick, who shares three children with Kourtney Kardashian, had been drawing flak for dating Richie, 15 years his junior.

But more recently, the couple had started to see support from the Kardashians. Kim, wife of rapper Kanye West, in an episode of their reality show seemingly approved of Disick and Richie's relationship.

"I think it's a good thing. I just hope that he's making good choices and having fun and nothing's getting crazy," the 37-year-old said.
