Disney California Adventure held its first premiere ever on June 22 for the film The Lone Ranger, starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer.

About 3,000 fans lined up to see Depp and Hammer as they walked the longer-than-usual red carpet in Anaheim, Calif., according to Entertainment Weekly. Both stars made sure to sign as many autographs as they could for the fans.

Depp, 50, walked the red carpet wearing a dark striped suit and vest while 26-year-old Hammer wore a pink suit and black tie. They were also accompanied by Disney costume characters like Mickey, Minnie and Pluto.

The film is based on the TV series Lone Ranger, which aired from 1949 to 1957. Hammer plays lead character John Reid and Depp plays Tonto, a Native American warrior who tells the untold stories that transformed Reid into a legend.

On the red carpet Hammer praised the movie's director Gore Verbinski, who filmed in New Mexico and brought a Western town atmosphere to life.

"It was really helpful. It was the difference between standing in the middle of the desert looking at some of the most beautiful scenery you can point a camera at and standing in an air conditioned room at some studio going, 'This is a lot of green fabric,'" he told The Hollywood Reporter.

Hammer also expressed his love for his co-star Depp by telling THR, "He's such a great guy. Nicest guy in the world. He's fantastic."

The actor, as well as many others on set, were also sent to a camp that taught them how to properly ride a horse. James Badge Dale, who plays Dan Reid, was also one of the actors to attend the camp with Hammer.

"I had to work really hard because Armie is very good," Dale told the publication, "and so we had a competitive-brother thing going on, and I'm turning to him like, 'You don't make me look bad, man.'"

The Long Ranger hits theaters on July 3.
