The Magicians Gets Renewed For A Fourth Season At Syfy

Expect more magic from the group from Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy in The Magicians, as Syfy announces its renewal for a fourth season.

The Magicians is well on its third season, and the early news of a renewal of the fourth season assures fans that they should expect more from Quentin Coldwater and his not-so-few friends as they battle dark forces. Season 4 is slated to premiere in an unspecified date in 2019 and will have 13 episodes.

Additionally, the advance announcement can be linked with the still-warm reception from the audience. One critic from The Verge, Chaim Gartenberg, acclaimed the arguably underrated show, asking people to watch The Magicians, as its mixture of varying elements portrays effectively some of the pressing issues today.

"Syfy's The Magicians has quietly become one of the most consistently entertaining shows on TV," the writer said.

Gartenberg noted the diversity in the cast as well. The reviewer further described the show as a mix of Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia. Other than this, The Magicians had become the top scripted series for adults, ages 18 to 49, for the past three years.

The current season just premiered on Jan. 10. The Magicians season 3 saw the gang taking on an adventure in order to bring back the magic.

The Magicians is based on the book of the same name by Lev Grossman. It revolves around Coldwater, played by Jason Ralph, and his friends who attend school at the Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy. As the name of the institution would suggest, students are taught spells and other sorts of magic.

Coldwater and his friends soon learn their capabilities and must fight off monsters that serve as threats to their world. The plot for The Magicians season 4 is yet to be announced.

Cast Excitement

Other included thespians in The Magicians include Hale Appleman, Stella Maeve, Arjun Gupta, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Jade Tailor, Summer Bishil, Trevor Einhorn, Rick Worthy, and Brittany Curran.

Some of them felt overjoyed with the announcement about their beloved The Magicians. Gupta took to Twitter to share that he woke up to a good news after hearing of the season 4 renewal.

"Humbled, proud, and excited to get back to work!" Gupta wrote.

Bishil, who portrays Margo Hanson, promised the fans of a fiercer characterization of her character. She further thanked her fans whom she said had made the renewal possible.

The Magicians airs every Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on Syfy.
