While Tim Duncan faces an upcoming divorce battle with estranged wife, Amy Duncan, fans have been tweeting messages of support to the San Antonio Spurs center.

Earlier reports indicated that Amy, his wife of 12 years, initially filed the divorce back in March, stating that the couple's marriage was "insupportable" because of discord and conflict. The San Antonio Express newspaper noted that prior to the divorce proceedings, Tim hired a private investigator to spy on Amy.

Fans were shocked to learn about the divorce news surrounding, Duncan, the NBA veteran, known for his calm demeanor and fundamentaly sound play on the court. Fans have tweeted notes of encouragement to the 16-year veteran, who doesn't have a Twitter account.

"So Duncan has a pending divorce case while the #NBAFinals was ongoing & yet he never used it as an excuse," jcmacapagal09 wrote on Tuesday. "Great man."

"Feel like giving tim duncan a hug. Having 2 go thrgh divorce, losing in d finals just one missed free-throw away," another fan tweeted on June 21. "Man what a year he's had.."

"Tim Duncan's wife cheats on him, wants a divorce, misses the game tying shot and now loses the championship on his possible last game #hugs,: a fan wrote June 20.

Although the San Antonio Spurs confirmed the divorce proceedings, Tim has yet to release a statement regarding the issue. Tim and Amy reportedly agreed to postpone the divorce battle until at least 30 days after the NBA finals. The couple have two children together: Sidney and Draven.

Meanwhile, after the devastating 88-95 NBA finals loss to the Miami Heat, it was rumored that Tim would retire, after falling one win short of his fifth title. When asked specifically if he planned to retire after the game on June 21, Tim indicated that he planned to return for the 2013-2014 season.

"I have a contract that says I am [coming back]," Tim said. "Not right now."
