Not content with making fans weep on This Is Us, Mandy Moore shared the sweet story of her engagement ring. It's genuinely awe-inspiring.

Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend

Moore opened up to InStyle about the inspiration behind her stunning ring. The actress was cognizant that the piece of jewelry was something she could incorporate into her daily life.

"I've never been someone who wears a lot of jewelry. It's fun to get dressed up and wear gorgeous pieces for work, but in my real life, I usually just put on a pair of stud earrings," Moore explained.

When the actress and her musician boyfriend, Taylor Goldsmith, first started discussing the possibility of getting married, Moore was quick to let him know she didn't want anything too flashy.

She imagined the two of them picking out simple bands together. She was shocked when Goldsmith produced the beautiful, custom Irene Neuwirth ring featuring a round-cut diamond on a rose gold band last fall.

Moore regaled how Goldsmith proposed while they were in the middle of moving. She also revealed that she wasn't too excited about having a ring at all, but once Goldsmith produced it, she now couldn't imagine the proposal without it.

Her partner really did his homework too. He went to Moore's favorite jewelers and got something that would suit her day-to-day style.

"It is so me. I especially love that the diamond is flat ... which makes it even more understated. It's elegant and cool, and you wouldn't even know it was an engagement ring if I didn't wear it on my left hand," she gushed.

The Perfect Piece

Moore feels the piece is also a perfect representation of their relationship.

"Because he put so much love and thought into it, I've never felt so special. And now it's a symbol of our life together and all the excitement yet to come," she said.

The couple got engaged after two years together. In keeping with her laidback style, Moore stated that she wouldn't be wearing the traditional flowing white princess dress to get married. Likewise, the ceremony itself will be intimate and relaxed.

The 33-year-old actress is currently starring in This Is Us opposite Milo Ventimiglia, who plays her onscreen husband. The latest season wrapped up with a fantasy sequence involving Moore and Ventimiglia's 40th anniversary as a married couple.

Many fans considered the scene as the weepiest moment in an already devastating season of the hit show.
