Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have been feuding for years and days ago, the "Firework" singer found herself face to face with a Swiftie.

While filming the new season of American Idol, judge Luke Bryan asked one of the show's contestants if there was anyone he looked up to as a musician. In response, the man said it was Swift who he admired.

“I’m sorry for this, Katy…Taylor Swift. I love Taylor Swift,” he explained, according to a March 18 report by Hollywood Life.

“Oh, you don’t have to be sorry…I love her as a songwriter as well,” Perry explained.

Perry voided speaking of her feud with Swift as well as she could but when it comes to the past, she has been fairly vocal about the ongoing drama between them.

Katy Perry And Taylor Swift Have Been Feuding For 5 Years

As Hollywood Life shared with readers, the singers' feud with one another started back in 2013 when Perry allegedly hired three of Swift's dancers who were part of her Red Tour to instead participate in her Prism Tour. Right away, Swift reportedly felt betrayed by Perry's behavior and years later, in 2015, she released her song "Bad Blood," which was believed to have been inspired by Perry.

Although Swift never came right out and said that it was Perry who she had "bad blood" with, she confirmed that she had written track about a former friend who “tried to sabotage” her tour. She then told NME magazzine that certain things irritate her and when it comes to the tabloid headlines, there have been all sorts of different versions of their feud told.

”I wish that I could turn the other cheek every single time, but I’m also not a pushover, you know? Especially when someone tries to assassinate my character with little girls [her fans]," she explained, according to Refinery 29. "That’s so messed up!”

Katy Perry Joined The 'American Idol' Cast Last Year

When it was first announced that the show would return, Perry was the first judge signed to the panel. Since then, Perry has found herself in the headlines a number of times -- and not just because of the Swift fan.

As viewers may have seen, the judge recently gave one of the show's contestants their first kiss -- and got slammed by fans for doing so.
