The buzz around the film adaptation of E.L. James' 50 Shades of Grey just kicked into high gear, as the movie now has an official release date of August 1, 2014.

One of the questions that's undoubtedly on the minds of its fans is who will end up donning the role of the shy, college graduate Anastasia Steele? While there have been a plethora of household names brought up, there's a new actress making waves in easy on the eyes Swede Alicia Vikander.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 24-year-old appears to have catapulted to the top of the pack, as the publication stated the following on June 27:

"Universal and Focus Features will likely first cast Anastasia Steele (with names like Felicity Jones and A Royal Affair's Alicia Vikander bandied about to play the innocent college student) before turning their attention to the male lead."

With her natural beauty and flowing dark hair, Vikander would clearly be a good fit for the sexy part.

50 Shades screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who is nearly finished penning the film script, stated that it would be adhering to the context of James' books with lots of sex and raunchiness. Producers are shooting for an NC-17 rating, according to a write-up in Style magazine. A clip of Vikander from a recent interview can be watched below.
