Netflix renews One Day at a Time for a third season, satisfying the fans clamoring for another set of episodes following the Alvarez family.

One Day At A Time Gets A Third Season

The third season of the Netflix favorite will consist of 13 episodes, according to Deadline.

Sony Pictures TV will continue to produce.

It may seem like fans have been waiting forever for the renewal, but it has actually only been three months since the second season was aired. The announcement for season two arrived just two days earlier last year.

While waiting for Netflix's announcement, fans have been getting antsy, afraid for the future of the renowned Hispanic-centric series.

Even the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) issued an open letter calling for the show's renewal, saying that the "critically acclaimed show serves as a guiding light - the true north in and for an industry grappling with issues of diversity, equity, and inclusivity."

One Day at a Time is about the lives of three generations of the Cuban-American Alvarez family. The diverse and inclusive members of the modern clan include a single mom, a military veteran, an old-school grandmother, the family's building manager, and two millennial kids.

Cast members Justina Machado, Rita Moreno, Todd Grinnell, Stephen Toblowsky, Isabella Gomez, and Marcel Ruiz are all returning for the next season.

One Day at a Time Season 3 will air on Netflix in 2019.

Netflix, Fans React At The Renewal

Netflix seems to be as happy with the decision as the fans of the show, posting a joyful announcement on Twitter with a clip of the Alvarez family dancing and the show's matriarch, Lydia, waving a Cuban flag. They also expressed their appreciation to the fans for being so vocal about the renewal.

Fans have been equally psyched about the announcement, taking to Twitter to showcase their relief and excitement at the upcoming season.
